WhatsApp Beta for Android Crash Finally Fixed

Good news for those frustrated WhatsApp users who have been recently trying to open the app or send media through it. It seems the developers have finally come to the solution to the crash problem. Keep on reading to know the details and learn how you can prevent your data from being lost if some bug appears on the horizon.

The Big Bug

Users of the American free messaging app from Meta encountered a crash on 2.22.4.6 and 2.22.47 beta builds. An unknown error appeared when they tried to open the app or send media. The report by WABetaInfo, the WhatsApp news and updates tracker, announced the team released a fix accompanied by the guide on how to switch to an older version of this internationally available freeware without losing any chat data.

How to Keep Your Chat Data Protected

The WhatsApp features tracker also provided users with helpful tips on how to prevent their data from being eliminated in case of any potential bug in the future. To secure user chat data, WABetaInfo recommends you back it up on Google Drive before you update to a new beta version. This way, you can preserve the data if there appears some bug that causes the beta app to crash. Besides, you can always revert to an older build before the app gets a crash fix.

For those users who neither want to reinstall an older build of WhatsApp nor wish to risk losing their data, WABetaInfo offers a guide on downgrading to an older version.

For iOS users, it is more convenient to return to an older version without the need to reinstall the app, while Android users still have to install the older build using a third-party resource.

Be on the Safe Side

Though the report didn’t reveal the reason for the crash on some Android smartphones, the news on the fix sounds like a big relief for the app users. Since it is really handy to send text and voice messages, make voice and video calls, share images, documents, and other content using WhatsApp, the fact that the developers are working hard to back up users with a solution in case of the app crash is pretty comforting.
