Explore KAWS Pop Art Exhibition in Fortnite

Since the 18th of January, Fortnite players have been able to visit a virtual exhibition of the modern pop-art creator KAWS. It is a digital version of the event in the Serpentine London Gallery, which became accessible due to the collaboration of the developers Epic Games, Brian Donnelly (or KAWS) himself, and Acute Art.

Though this is not the first time Fortnite fans may experience art installations online (remember Kid A Mnesia Exhibition by Radiohead that was presented in cooperation with the game creators), to KAWS, «New Fiction» is the first solo exhibition in London. He has already exhibited his works in museums and galleries worldwide. Due to this new multi-layered project, colorful paintings and several statues of his iconic character Companion may be seen by a broad Fortnite community. Even if you are new to the idea of pop art and have never heard about the Brooklyn-based artist, you can broaden your horizons by visiting the exhibition till the 27th of February.

What Can You Expect from «New Fiction»?

No surrealism should be expected, as the event is a true-to-life recreation of the gallery halls and artworks. Thus any player of the game has the opportunity to perceive the elements of pop-art exposition at their own pace and for free.

The hub may be indefinitely accessed by using an island code 9562-7830-4159. You will be placed in the gardens with the attempt to check on the latest trendy Creative mode games. If you want more AR experience, you can download a free Acute Art app to place and view all the paintings and sculptures at home.

Virtually or Never: The Choice Is Yours

Due to the efforts of the Fornite Creative community, you can observe the statues in the Serpentine gardens and other KAWS artworks without the need to buy a ticket to London. The event is free, and anyone interested in the show has the chance to visit the gallery online and get to know the Pop Art Tradition. Since the pandemic has limited our opportunity to see the worldwide artworks with our own eyes, why not take a break from fighting zombies in the game and attend the exhibition, just to know what it is all about?
